SBC Public Relations Supports Multiple Clients at International Builders' Show

Columbus, OH (February 17, 2006) – At the International Builders' Show (IBS) last month, the SBC Public Relations team successfully represented Armstrong Residential Ceilings and Wayne-Dalton Garage Doors and Openers by leading media outreach and coordinating booth editorial appointments with almost four dozen media outlets. With more than 1.5 million square feet of exhibit space, IBS, which was held in Orlando, Fla., is the largest light construction show in the world.

For both clients, SBC led the media outreach efforts by writing and collating press kits, securing editorial appointments and managing media on-site. SBC also coordinated client participation in a satellite media tour that garnered 1.6 million viewers in more than 30 network television markets. During the show, SBC clients met with more than 40 different media outlets, including Woman's Day Home Remodeling, Country Home, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens, Real Simple and House & Garden.

"Armstrong and Wayne-Dalton are established category leaders in the building products industry, yet they still can benefit from focused PR counsel to maintain their respective market positions," says Zack Bingham, senior account supervisor of the public relations department. "IBS is a hands-on way to jumpstart the New Year and generate targeted media interest about our clients' new products and initiatives. Our goal is to continue that momentum throughout 2006."

For Armstrong, SBC worked closely with executives from the ceilings, flooring and cabinets divisions to communicate the "Power of the Portfolio" in media materials and interactions. On Friday, Jan. 13, Bill Vaughn, marketing manager for residential ceilings, made his national television debut by filming a segment for The Learning Channel's "Designing Spaces." The segment features Armstrong's WoodHaven ceiling planks and the 10 new finishes scheduled for release in March.

"The 2006 Builders' Show was a tremendous success for Armstrong Residential Ceilings," says Vaughn. "The editorial appointments, satellite media tour and booth tours continue to elevate the importance of residential ceiling design and educate media and consumers about our rapidly expanding portfolio of products. We'll continue to see meaningful results from these efforts throughout the year."

For Wayne-Dalton, SBC developed and coordinated hard-copy and electronic press kits for media distribution at IBS. During the show, SBC coordinated and led media booth tours that featured the industry's first fiberglass-clad door and garage opener control panels enabled with Z-Wave technology - the new standard in home automation.
