Columbus, OH (May 25, 2007) – Exceptional work breeds exceptional results. SBC Public Relations found that out first hand as they were awarded with three PRism awards at the annual 2007 PRism awards ceremony hosted by the Central Ohio Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
PRism awards are the highest honor in public relations and recognize work completed during the previous calendar year. SBC earned awards on behalf of Armstrong Building Products, Elmer's and Tyco Fire & Building Products, winning for events in the multi-faceted campaigns category and for a media kit in the single-item category.
"The PRism awards really speak to the category leadership and innovation of our clients," said Zack Bingham, director of public relations for SBC Advertising. "Our agency/client partnership challenges us to push the envelope and consistently deliver results. Our team worked with Armstrong, Elmer's and Tyco Fire & Building Products to develop highly impactful initiatives throughout the last year. We share this recognition with them."
This year marks a continuation of PRism recognition. In 2006, SBC won one PRism for an Elmer's product promotion mailer in addition to four Awards of Excellence for Elmer's, Armstrong and Channellock, Inc.
SBC Public Relations received PRism awards in the following categories this year:
Multi-Faceted Campaigns, One-Time Event:
SBC planned and coordinated logistics for a grand opening
event at Tyco Fire & Building Products' revamped Global Technology
Center in Cranston, R.I. Tyco invested $5 million to renovate
what was the current research and development facility into a
world class fire research and training center. The event was attended
by Ed Breen, CEO of Tyco International, Rhode Island Gov. Don
Carcieri, U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin and various other dignitaries
and public officials. The event was covered by wire services and
local and regional media alike, including all Providence broadcast
affiliates.
Multi-Faceted Campaigns, Annual Event:
SBC planned and executed Armstrong Residential Ceilings'
second annual Project Michelangelo event in New York City. The
event previewed new and prototype Armstrong ceiling products for
media members. The Project Michelangelo Design Council, a group
of four well-known interior designers, each created their own
custom room scene featuring Armstrong ceiling products. More than
12 top-tier shelter publications attended the event, which was
held in a loft space in Manhattan. The event drew favorable reviews
from some of the most influential editors in the industry.
Single-Item Entry, Media Kit:
To launch Elmer's Paintastics®, an instant-drying paint designed
for kids, SBC developed a branded media kit. Similar to a traditional
wood art box, the kit included a custom folder with built-in tip
sheet, press release and product fact sheet. To capture the potential
of the product in its true form, the custom folder contained Paintastics
artwork completed by children. The press kit ultimately yielded
placements in major consumer magazines such as Woman's Day and Family
Fun. Entries were judged on persuasiveness of content, creativity,
results/effectiveness, quality of production and appropriateness
for identified audience. Winning campaigns showcase "best
in class" public relations work.
PRSA is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. Local chapter membership includes 400 individuals from business and industry, counseling firms, government, associations, healthcare, education, professional service firms and nonprofit organizations.
